Harrison McMillan is seeking a Work Health Safety Project Lead (APS6) to work with a Federal Government Department.
RoleThe Work Health Safety section leads the overall WHS strategy and management of the department’s enterprise safety management system. This role resides within the WHS Enterprise team and reports directly to the Assistant Director Strategy, Systems & Governance.
Success-
Develop nationally significant projects to support the re-build of the department’s safety management system in collaboration with other team members

Identify opportunities to drive work programs led by an evidence-based approach

Engage with internal and external stakeholders and positively contribute to building working relationships

Tailor communication strategies to effectively communicate information to targeted audiences

Demonstrate leadership qualities with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver quality results within defined timeframes

Be committed to expanding your skills and knowledge, with proven ability to research and analyse safety data

Assist with the procurement and/or management of specialist WHS services

Assist preparing high-quality briefs, papers and guidance on relevant work health and safety matters, including papers for consideration by the WHS leadership team

Support and contribute to the success of the branch and broader department

Work health and safety tertiary qualifications, or equivalent practical WHS workplace experience

An awareness of health and safety programs including their development and implementation in a large organisation with a diverse hazard profile would also be highly regarded

Contemporary and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Codes of Practice, and relevant Australian and International Standards, and their application in a variety of workplaces with diverse hazard profiles

Highly competent in the preparation of high-quality briefs, papers and guidance on relevant work health and safety matters.

Diploma in Work Health & Safety, equivalent workplace experience
