WHS Consultant/ Practitioner
We are seeking a proactive and experienced WHS Consultant/Practitioner to join a public sector organisation committed to improving housing outcomes and supporting vulnerable communities. This role is a great opportunity to help shape key HSW programs, risk strategies, and training in a dynamic organisation.
- Support the development of HSW procedures, risk assessments, and training.
- Assist with complex HSW projects and change management initiatives.
- Provide operational support, advice, and risk mitigation across the organisation.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of safety procedures, manage complex HSW projects, and deliver risk-based training initiatives. You’ll also provide essential operational support to ensure compliance and promote a safe and healthy workplace across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) procedures, including risk assessments and safe operating procedures
- Apply project management and change management skills to support complex HSW projects and initiatives
- Design and deliver risk-based learning and development programs tailored to current and emerging workplace risks
- Provide operational support during periods of leave within the HSW team, including:
- Hazard and incident monitoring
- Lone worker safety oversight
- Risk mitigation advice in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and meet deadlines under pressure
- Experience in developing, researching, and advising on critical safety policies, training programs, and strategic initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Comprehensive understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act, WHS Regulations, Australian Standards, and relevant Codes of Practice
