As part of a broader HRIS implementation, several team members have transitioned into project and change roles, creating the need for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to provide stability and expertise within the payroll function.

This role supports the ongoing delivery of payroll in a well established team, with a clear focus on business as usual processing. About the Person
An experienced payroll professional with strong, hands on Chris21 expertise, comfortable operating in complex environments and managing BAU workloads during periods of transformation. Brings a practical, detail focused approach and enjoys supporting team capability through knowledge sharing and process improvement.
Known for reliability, accuracy, and the ability to communicate clearly with both payroll colleagues and the broader business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with policies, enterprise agreements, and statutory requirements
  • Support BAU payroll operations during an HRIS implementation
  • Review manual payroll processes and identify opportunities to streamline or automate using Excel and Chris21
  • Respond to payroll related queries from employees in a timely and professional manner
  • Review and update payroll procedures and documentation to strengthen governance and internal controls
  • Share knowledge and best practices to support capability uplift across the payroll team

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven, hands on experience with the Chris21 payroll system (essential)
  • Strong payroll experience within a complex or highly regulated environment
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support and train others
