Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to deliver high-quality mechanical engineering solutions across critical water infrastructure projects. The role will contribute to the investigation, design and specification of mechanical systems, with a strong focus on pumping, hydraulic performance and safety.

Role Overview
Working closely with the Principal Engineer, Mechanical, this role provides technical support across mechanical engineering disciplines, contributing to investigations, design development, safety in design and the ongoing improvement of technical standards. The role supports projects across pipelines, pump stations and treatment assets throughout the asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership and embed WHS and Safety in Design (SiD) principles across all mechanical engineering activities.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise across investigations, options analysis, concept and detailed design for water infrastructure assets.
- Act as a technical practitioner supporting mechanical discipline matters across projects and operational assets.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and suppliers to support equipment design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Contribute to the development, review and application of mechanical engineering standards, guidelines and best practice.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Accredited Chartered Engineer (CPEng)
- Demonstrated experience within the water industry, ideally across pipelines, pump stations, and water treatment plants (wastewater experience highly regarded)
- Proven capability in the design and specification of mechanical components, including pumps, valves, and filtration systems
- Strong hydraulic knowledge preferred, particularly in relation to:
- Pump selection
- Surge modelling and mitigation
- Sizing of surge vessels, pressure safety valves (PSVs), and pressure reducing valves (PRVs)
- Wastewater infrastructure experience.
- Experience designing and specifying mechanical components such as pumps, valves and filtration systems.
- Strong hydraulic knowledge, including pump selection, surge modelling and mitigation, and sizing of surge vessels, PSVs and PRVs.
- Water, utilities or large infrastructure experience.
- Exposure to installation and commissioning of EIC infrastructure.
