Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer to provide technical leadership across water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role delivers high-level hydraulic engineering expertise, supporting safe design, technical governance and best-practice outcomes across the asset lifecycle.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Lead, Engineering Studies within the Sustainable Infrastructure group, the Senior Engineer, Hydraulic acts as a technical authority within the hydraulic discipline. The role provides investigation, design, review, audit and advisory services, working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants and contractors to ensure safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership and embed WHS and Safety in Design (SiD) principles across all hydraulic engineering activities.
- Act as an experienced practitioner delivering hydraulic investigations, options analysis, concept and detailed design for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Provide technical support to the hydraulic discipline, including design review, audit and advisory services across the asset lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Hydraulic to support the technical development of the hydraulic engineering team.
- Provide timely, accurate and practical engineering advice to internal stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
- Contribute to the development, review and application of hydraulic engineering standards and guidelines.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement through emerging technologies and industry best practice.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Civil or Hydraulic Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia.
- Strong experience delivering complex hydraulic engineering investigations and designs within the water industry.
- Proven hydraulic modelling capability using WaterGEMS and Bentley HAMMER.
- Detailed knowledge of hydraulic engineering practices within large infrastructure or utility environments.
- Experience contributing to the development and ongoing review of technical and infrastructure standards.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications.
- Experience auditing designs prepared by others.
- Exposure to large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure environments.
