Senior Finance Officer  

Support budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting for clinical operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

  • Provide expert financial support across a complex operational area 

  • Deliver timely budget analysis, reporting, and insights to drive performance 

  • Short-term 3–4 month contract based at Glenside

This role sits within a major South Australian health service, delivering high-quality care across a range of clinical services. The environment is complex and multidisciplinary, offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes while working collaboratively across clinical and corporate teams. 

Role Overview 

Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Senior Finance Officer (ASO6) is responsible for supporting budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting across the operational area. You will provide insights to support decision-making, oversee day-to-day financial operations, and guide junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance. 

About the Person  

You are a confident and analytical finance professional with strong commercial acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to build relationships across teams. Health sector experience is an advantage but not essential; what matters most is your ability to deliver accurate financial insights, support operational decision-making, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.  

Key Responsibilities   

  • Support budgeting and financial planning activities. 

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analysis. 

  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior finance staff. 

  • Partner with the Finance Business Partner to drive performance against budget and identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Contribute to financial process improvements and ensure compliance with policies and standards. 

  • Build effective working relationships with clinical and corporate teams to support decision-making. 

  • Contribute to policy development and ensure compliance with workplace laws and industrial instruments. 

  • Partner with senior leaders on workforce strategy and employee engagement initiatives. 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience   

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline. 

  • Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment. 

  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. 

  • Experience in health services is desirable but not essential. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships.
