The Security Operations Manager leads the Departments security operations function. This role requires strong expertise in protective security risk management and a thorough understanding of the Commonwealth Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). The position provides strategic, professional, and technical advice on security matters and manages complex operational security issues across the organisation using a risk-based approach.
The Security Operations Manager is also responsible for delivering protective security guidance to stakeholders to support compliance with policies, procedures, and practices. The role oversees the development and implementation of assurance programs to ensure ongoing compliance with whole-of-government security requirements.
Deliverables
- Oversee the operational security program across a geographically dispersed footprint, including educating staff on security awareness, policies and procedures through training and awareness initiatives. Develop, oversee and monitor the completion of assurance programs to ensure compliance with whole-of-Government security policies
- Lead a small team, manage allocated resources, set work area priorities and manage staff workflows
- Undertake specialist physical security risk management activities to ensure compliance and continuous improvement against PSPF Physical and Risk domains. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders and maintain productive working relationships.
- Proven ability to interpret policy, develop solutions to complex issues, manage competing priorities, work proactively, autonomously, and within deadlines.
- Effectively leads security personnel in implementing the Tribunal’s Protective Security Framework and delivering protective security functions in line with the PSPF.
- Reviews, assesses, and endorses protective security reports, briefings, submissions, and discussion papers.
- Conducts comprehensive risk assessments and develops mitigation strategies to address physical, personnel, and information security vulnerabilities.
