Safety Advisor
Exciting contract role for a Safety Advisor with rail/transport background. Varied projects, site travel, collaborative team culture.

We are a leading organisation in rail operations, delivering safe and sustainable transport solutions. With several new projects underway, we are expanding our operational safety team to ensure best practice in safety management across all sites.
Role Overview
The Safety Advisor will report to the Manager, Operational Safety, and work alongside an experienced investigations advisor. This role focuses on operational and environmental safety (not WHS compliance) through audits, hazard and risk assessments, and safety investigations. Based predominantly in Adelaide, the role requires regular travel to sites including Seaford, Gawler, Glenelg, Belair, Dry Creek, and Kungari.
About the Person
You have proven experience in operational safety within rail, transport, maritime, or other complex operational environments. You bring strong knowledge of risk management, safety auditing, and investigations, with the ability to adapt to a fast-moving project environment. A collaborative mindset and a hands-on approach are key to succeeding in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct operational and environmental safety audits and inspections
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support investigations into safety incidents and events
- Contribute to the development of a positive safety culture across projects
- Travel to operational sites as required to support safety initiatives
- Assist in implementing and embedding the Safety Management System (training provided)
- Background in rail, transport, or operational safety (maritime or similar highly regarded)
- Experience in safety audits, hazard identification, and risk management
- Strong knowledge of operational and environmental safety requirements
- Safety Access Worker qualifications or Rail Safety Card desirable (training available)
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and projects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
