People Business Partner

The City of Tea Tree Gully is a progressive and evolving Council focused on building organisational capability and delivering positive outcomes for its community. The City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking experienced People Business Partners to provide trusted advice, manage complex employee matters and strengthen people leadership capability across the organisation.
Reporting to the Manager People, Culture and Wellbeing, each role will lead a small team comprising of a People Advisor and an aligned People Support Officer. You will act as the escalation point for complex matters while coaching leaders and supporting the People Advisor to deliver practical and consistent advice.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing complex employee relations, performance and attendance matters.
  • Providing senior-level advice on employment matters, policies and legislation.
  • Coaching leaders to improve their people management capability.
  • Leading, supporting and developing a small People and Culture team.
  • Advising on role classification, job evaluation and remuneration matters.
  • Supporting organisational change and consultation activities.
  • Using workforce data to inform decisions and workforce planning.
  • Improving people systems, processes, templates and ways of working.
About you:
You are an approachable and solutions-focused People and Culture professional who can build credibility with leaders and provide clear, practical advice.
You have strong employee relations and case management experience and are confident supporting leaders through sensitive or complex matters. You also enjoy coaching others, sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive team environment.
This role will suit someone who is flexible, customer focused and comfortable working in an organisation that continues to grow and evolve. The role will attract someone who thrives on being trusted, responsible and accountable to provide exceptional business partnering by problem solving and improving people outcomes.

You will also have:
  • Substantial generalist Human Resources or People and Culture experience.
  • Strong employee relations and performance management capability.
  • Experience leading, coaching or supporting a small team.
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, awards and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Experience supporting change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with job evaluation or remuneration matters, which is desirable.
  • A coaching background or qualification, which is highly regarded.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • A current South Australian Class C driver’s licence.
     
What Is on Offer
  • Level 6 remuneration of $111,846.21 to $118,917.30 plus superannuation.
  • Flexible working hours between 7.00 am and 6.00 pm.
