The City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking two People Advisors, with one permanent opportunity and one six-month contract, to provide practical human resources advice and support to leaders and employees across the organisation.


Reporting to a People Business Partner, you will be the first point of contact for employment matters across your allocated portfolio. You will also supervise a People Support Officer undertaking the recruitment and employee movements process. This role will coordinate employee lifecycle processes and escalate complex or sensitive matters when required.
Each People Advisor will also take ownership of a designated people project, providing the opportunity to broaden your experience and contribute to organisational priorities.
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing timely advice on employment conditions, entitlements and people processes.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, industrial instruments and policies.
  • Supporting leaders with performance management and workforce matters.
  • Supervising, supporting and developing a People Support Officer.
  • Overseeing recruitment, onboarding and employee movement processes.
  • Providing advice on position classifications, grading and establishment changes.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and human resources system data.
  • Provide cyclical reporting, data and insights
  • Coordinating people initiatives and contributing to continuous improvement.
About you:
You are an approachable and customer-focused human resources professional who enjoys helping leaders and employees navigate workplace matters.
You can provide clear advice within established policies and frameworks, exercise sound judgement and recognise when a matter requires escalation. You are organised, accurate and comfortable balancing advisory responsibilities with employee lifecycle processes and project work.
You will also enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting the development of others within a collaborative team environment.
You will also have:
  • Experience providing operational Human Resources or People and Culture advice and support.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, awards and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Exposure to performance management and employee relations matters.
  • Experience supervising, coordinating or supporting administrative staff.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, prioritisation and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to escalate complex matters appropriately.
  • Confidence using human resources systems and corporate applications.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check.
