Role Overview
This role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, management, and continual improvement of ANI’s Nuclear Safety Management System (NSMS) to support the successful delivery of the Osborne Submarine Construction Yard. The position ensures ANI meets all nuclear authorisation requirements by establishing and sustaining core capabilities, including governance structures for nuclear safety decision-making, continuous performance improvement of the NSMS (including the Safety Case and associated artefacts), and the integration of a robust categorisation and classification system for structures, systems, components, and information critical to nuclear disciplines. The role applies best practice standards to meet or exceed statutory and regulatory obligations, while taking a consultative leadership approach to drive organisational change. It requires strict adherence to enterprise-wide stakeholder requirements and oversight of the Independent Nuclear Safety Assurance (INSA) function.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Australian citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances.
  • Tertiary qualifications in nuclear infrastructure or related high-hazard industries (highly desirable).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in developing, implementing, and sustaining Safety Management Systems and Safety Cases in Nuclear or other relevant high-hazard environments.
  • Demonstrated experience within high-hazard or nuclear industries leading safety systems management
  • Demonstrated experience working within multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and highly regulated settings, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated leadership and accountability in driving corporate and operational outcomes.
  • Flexibility to travel interstate and overseas
