Role Overview

For six generations, the Beerenberg family has been farming in Hahndorf and creating products enjoyed across Australia and around the world. The Beerenberg Hospitality & Retail Centre brings the brand to life through its café, retail store, farm experiences, tourism activities and events. It is a busy and much-loved destination where every visitor should feel genuinely welcomed and receive an experience that reflects the quality and heritage of Beerenberg.

An opportunity is now available for an experienced Hospitality & Retail Centre Venue Manager to take overall responsibility for the performance of the venue. Reporting to the General Manager, this is a senior operational leadership position within Beerenberg’s Hosipitality & Retail Centre.. You will lead two HRC Managers, set the operational direction and ensure all areas work together to deliver exceptional guest experiences and strong commercial results. This is a visible leadership role for someone who enjoys being part of the operation, developing capable managers and creating an environment where high standards are understood and consistently delivered.


About the Person

You will be an experienced hospitality or retail leader who has managed a busy, multi-area venue and understands how to balance people, service and commercial performance.

Your leadership style will be visible, genuine and practical. You will enjoy building strong teams, setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards without losing the warmth and personality that make a guest experience memorable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall accountability for café, retail, tourism and event operations
  • Lead, coach and develop two HRC Managers and the broader venue team
  • Set clear operational standards, workflows and ways of working
  • Manage budgets and performance across sales, labour, costs and waste
  • Lead roster planning across the seven-day operation and peak periods
  • Drive exceptional and consistent guest service across the venue
  • Oversee seasonal activities, tourism experiences and events
  • Partner with the Executive Chef and Head Chef on quality and service delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, facilities and performance
  • Maintain high standards across WHS, food safety and compliance
  • Act as the link between the Hospitality & Retail Centre and Head Office
  • Support the General Manager and act as deputy when required

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience leading a comparable hospitality, retail or tourism operation
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing other managers
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budget, labour and cost management
  • Experience preparing for peak trading periods, events or seasonal operations
  • The ability to balance exceptional service with commercial outcomes
  • Confident decision-making and operational problem-solving skills
  • Strong relationships with employees, suppliers and senior stakeholders
  • Current RSA and food-handling certification
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • Qualifications in Hospitality Management, Business or a related field are well regarded
  • Experience in tourism, agri-tourism or regional food and beverage is highly regarded

The Hospitality & Retail Centre operates seven days a week. Flexibility to contribute across weekends, public holidays, seasonal peaks and key trading periods will be essential.
