About the Role: 

This is not a typical agency recruitment role. 

It’s an opportunity to build, lead and grow Harrison McMillan’s Specialist Recruitment division in Melbourne, backed by an established national business, strong leadership team and proven service offering. 

Following the successful launch of our Talent Solutions division in Melbourne and several tender wins, Harrison McMillan is now expanding its Specialist Recruitment division, starting at the top with a Head of who will take ownership and lead this from the ground up. 

Starting with one core specialisation, we are looking for a proven agency leader who will establish the Harrison McMillan Specialist brand in the Melbourne market, win clients, generate revenue and build a high-performing team, with a clear pathway to scale the Melbourne Specialist Branch. 

You’ll be supported by an experienced national leadership team, Adelaide-based recruiters, and strong operational, marketing, technology and systems infrastructure. 

At its core, this is a commercial leadership role suited to someone who wants to build, own and grow something meaningful, with the backing of an established business behind them. 

In this role, you will: 

• Build and establish Harrison McMillan’s Specialist Recruitment presence in Melbourne  

• Win new business and develop a strong client portfolio  

• Deliver end-to-end recruitment across permanent, contract and executive roles (initially)  

• Drive revenue to achieve commercial targets within the first 12 months  

• Build, hire and grow a high-performing team of specialist recruiters  

• Transition from hands-on billing to leadership and division growth  

• Partner with the CEO, COO and Director – Recruitment Services and leadership team on strategy execution and growth  

• Leverage national support teams across delivery, marketing and operations  
• Position yourself as a trusted advisor within your specialist market  

This role is designed for someone who has already proven themselves in agency recruitment and is ready for something bigger.

• A top-performing Manager or Principal Consultant  

• Leading a team but feeling capped in growth or autonomy
