We are currently seeking applications for a Director, Enterprise Risk Advisory to join the South Australian Government Financing Authority (SAFA) at the Department of Treasury and Finance for a period of up to 36 months in an executive role.
About the opportunity:The Director, Enterprise Risk Advisory, is responsible for working with the leadership team to reshape and modernise SAFA’s enterprise risk function. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the refresh and embedding of the risk management framework and implement a Governance, Risk and Compliance system that is practical, scalable, and future-ready.
This strategic, future-focused role provides risk leadership across a broad portfolio that includes treasury, insurance, and financial advisory functions. You’ll influence executive and board-level thinking, uplift capability, and promote a risk culture that is enabling.
About you- Lead the development and implementation of a refreshed enterprise risk framework
- Deliver a fit-for-purpose Governance, Risk and Compliance system that aligns with SAFA’s strategic priorities
- Provide risk advisory support across SAFA’s business operations
- Offer strategic advice and insights to inform credit risk appetite and parameters
- Shape and communicate SAFA’s risk appetite, and embed it in operational decision-making
- Promote a values-based and enabling approach to risk across all levels of the organisation
- Engage with executive leadership, board committees and cross-functional teams to elevate risk maturity
To be successful you will have:
- Significant experience in enterprise risk, ideally within financial markets, treasury, insurance or government
- Proven ability to lead organisational change and uplift risk capability
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including executive and board-level presentation
- Strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High emotional intelligence and ability to apply sound judgement skills under pressure

SAFA functions as the central financing authority, captive insurer and manager of the passenger and light commercial fleet operations for the Government of South Australia. SAFA plays an integral role in the overall management of the State Government's finances and risks, harnessing economies of scale and relevant expertise in wholesale financial markets and insurance markets to provide a range of treasury, insurance and vehicle fleet management services to public sector clients, set by its strategic direction.
