Opportunity for an experienced Contract Specialist – Adelaide

Growing Australian company that specialises in electrical infrastructure, such as low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) switchboards, switch rooms, motor control centres, transformers, protection systems and kiosk substations. With operations nationally they are continuing to expand and deliver to multiple sectors such as mining, construction and defence.
Role Overview
The Contract Specialist is accountable for the day-to-day administration of established contracts, both client and subcontractor, and for assisting Project Managers to carry out their obligations and responsibilities in relation to contracts, budgets and schedules per project in line with Company policies and procedures
About the Person
Ideally seeking specialists with a minimum 4–5 years' experience in contract administration within the construction or manufacturing industry.
You will have strong experience managing day-to-day contractual activities, including progress claims, notices, payments, variations, and subcontractor agreements and be proficient in SharePoint, Microsoft Office applications and financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract advice and support to the Pre-Contracts and Project Delivery Teams improved contract outcomes.
- Proactively identify, manage and advise on commercial and contractual risks.
- Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive contract management plans.
- Maintain the integrity of contract information and co-ordinate all aspects of the contract administration process.
- Maintenance of the Project’s contractual and commercial records including SharePoint
- Day-to-day management and administration of client and subcontractor contracts Timely advice to Project Managers of any disputes, actions or potential claims per contract.
- Provide support and information to the Group Manager, Legal to effectively manage contractual disputes.
- Establish and maintain appropriate client, subcontractor and supplier relationships to identify and minimise risk, resolve issues as they arise and maximise the value of the contract.
- Continuously review progress per contract and provide the Project Manager with information regarding any commercial (financial/legal) difficulties.
- Attend and report to internal project forecasting meetings.
- Effectively close out contractual matters at project completion including completion of the Contract Close Out Checklist.
- Tertiary qualification in Business / Commercial Law / Building or related discipline.
- Specialist training in contract law and/or administration. Project management qualification
- Strong background in Contract Administration, with experience in contract development and administration contributing to contract decision making.
- Proven ability in providing succinct advice on contracts, contract management strategies and issues.
- Experience in working in a project/construction environment.
- Contract review and negotiation skills.
- Detailed knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Experience using Pronto financial management system (desirable)
- Understanding of commercial/industrial construction techniques
- Basic knowledge of subcontract trades
- Strong risk management approach
