Chief Executive Officer

  • Champion the voice of foster and kinship carers across South Australia
  • Advocate for systemic reform and stronger outcomes for families and children
  • Lead a values-driven organisation committed to creating lasting impact

Shape the future of CF&KC-SA as CEO, driving advocacy, strategy, and support for carers statewide.

About the Company
Connecting Foster and Kinship Carers SA Inc. (CF&KC-SA) is the peak body representing foster and kinship carers in South Australia. CF&KC-SA exists to ensure carers are supported, connected, and heard—because when carers thrive, children thrive. Through advocacy, advice, and collaboration, CF&KC-SA works to influence policy, strengthen the out-of-home care system, and deliver better outcomes for families.
The organisation provides a comprehensive range of services designed to empower carers and amplify their voices. From advocacy and information sharing to carer support groups, reference groups, and information sessions, CF&KC-SA creates opportunities for connection and learning. It also delivers professional development initiatives, including a Diploma of Community Services, hosts a national conference, and engages legal professionals to support carers’ rights. CF&KC-SA is more than an organisation—it’s a movement for change, and this is your opportunity to lead it.

Role Overview
As CEO, you will lead CF&KC-SA’s strategic vision and operational performance, working closely with the Board to amplify the voice of carers where it matters most. This is a role for a leader who can combine purpose with pragmatism—someone who can navigate complexity, champion systemic reform, and build strong relationships across government, community, and the child protection sector.
You will oversee governance, compliance, and organisational growth, while fostering collaboration and innovation to meet the evolving needs of carers. Success in this role means creating an environment where carers feel supported and empowered, and where the organisation continues to be a trusted advocate and partner in shaping a better future for children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocate for carers and represent CF&KC-SA in high-level forums and consultations
  • Drive strategic planning and organisational development in collaboration with the Board
  • Build strong relationships with government, sector stakeholders, and community partners
  • Oversee governance, compliance, and financial sustainability
  • Secure funding through grants and partnerships to support organisational priorities

Culture of the Business
CF&KC-SA is a highly respected peak body with a small, dedicated team united by a shared purpose: to make a difference for carers and the children they support. The culture is collaborative, transparent, and grounded in trust. Here, ideas are valued, voices are heard, and evidence-based practice drives meaningful change. Joining CF&KC-SA means working in an environment where compassion meets action—and where your leadership can leave a lasting legacy.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership role (CEO or GM level)
  • Knowledge of foster and kinship care sector and broader child protection
  • Proven ability to lead strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working with boards and understanding governance principles
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets
  • Grant writing experience and ability to secure additional funding
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to navigate conflict
  • Resilient and adaptable, with a collaborative leadership style
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, social work, or related discipline
  • Current SA driver’s licence, National Police Clearance, and Working With Children Check
