Exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Specialist to lead procurement initiatives, manage supplier relationships, and drive value across high-value and complex categories.

Role Overview:
The Category Specialist will be responsible for managing procurement activity across high-value and complex sub-categories of spend. This role involves delivering detailed category management plans, conducting sourcing activities, managing supplier performance, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing expert guidance on procurement, contracting, and supply chain matters while ensuring optimal business outcomes.

About the Person:
The ideal candidate will be a procurement professional with strong negotiation skills, supplier management experience, and a proven ability to deliver commercial outcomes. You’ll combine analytical expertise with excellent relationship management and communication skills, enabling you to partner effectively with stakeholders and influence procurement opportunities. Independence, professionalism, and a solutions-focused approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver category management and action plans for high-value/complex categories

  • Conduct sourcing processes, prepare procurement documentation, and manage contract execution

  • Lead supplier relationship management to ensure performance, risk management, and value delivery

  • Provide market intelligence, spend analysis, and benchmarking to inform decision-making

  • Advise stakeholders on procurement policies, supply chain strategies, and contract management matters

  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for innovation in procurement and supply chain practices

  • Ensure full compliance with procurement frameworks, policies, and procedures

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Law, Commercial, or related field (MCIPS desirable)

  • Proven procurement and contracting experience, including negotiation and supplier management

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to develop actionable insights

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities effectively
