About the Company
The Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Service supports the frontline policing and corporate operations of SAPOL through the provision of ICT infrastructure and communication platforms, operational software applications, and support services. The Service is responsible for driving the ongoing evolution of ICT capability across SAPOL, through the delivery of high-quality ICT change programs. The Service is structured across four core pillars: Strategy, Innovation and Engagement; Program Delivery; Operational Services; and Security and Assurance. The Service extends from traditional ICT services to encompass a specialist radio and technology capability, including laser and radar calibration services.
 
Program Delivery is accountable for the successful delivery of business outcomes from a large portfolio of projects. It contains both project delivery accountability as well as portfolio governance responsibilities to manage quality, risk and budget to optimise outcomes from the portfolio as a whole. SAPOL is undertaking a large complex portfolio of work across a range of areas including core infrastructure, business systems and digital transformation initiatives. This full portfolio has been broken into three sub-portfolios to deliver on the business outcomes. 
 
The Mobility Portfolio is responsible for the delivery of 2 flagship Programs; the Mobile Workforce Program (MWP), which is focused on delivering personally issued mobile devices provisioned with full frontline capability, and the Digital Workforce Program (DWP), which has been responsible for rolling out digital innovation across SAPOL. Together, these programs represent an enterprise multi-year technology transformation program that will usher in SAPOL’s future workplace and deliver IT solutions for next generation policing.
 
Role Overview

The Senior Technical Security Specialist (Prisma Access) is accountable to the Program Manager, Mobile Workforce Program for the governance, management and continuous improvement of SAPOL’s Prisma Access platform. This role acts as the primary subject matter expert, ensuring the platform delivers secure, reliable and highly available services aligned with performance, security and compliance standards. With a strong strategic focus, the position oversees governance, audit activities and vendor engagement, while supporting operational needs where required in the short term.
 
Working closely with IS&T leadership, system owners and users across SAPOL, the role collaborates with security counterparts across government agencies and jurisdictions to support secure connectivity and interoperability. It maintains key relationships with stakeholders including Palo Alto and Datacom, and engages with agency security roles such as the Agency Security Executive (ASE), Agency Security Advisor (ASA) and Information Technology Security Advisor (ITSA), as well as central bodies including the South Australian Government Office of Cyber Security and Cyber Security Watchdesk.
 
This role provides expert guidance across cloud and network security, with a focus on Prisma Access and secure mobile connectivity, while contributing to monitoring and SOC-aligned practices. It plays a critical role in shaping platform strategy, ensuring governance maturity and driving continuous improvement, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on input where needed.
 
Essential Requirements

•    Extensive hands-on experience with Prisma Access (or similar), covering design, deployment, policy management and support
•    Proven ability to develop and maintain security policies, standards and strategies aligned to organisational and ISMF requirements
•    Experience creating key security artefacts including requirements, HLD/LLD and operational runbooks
•    Strong expertise in identity and authentication (SAML, OIDC, MFA, PKI), plus GlobalProtect, routing and traffic steering
•    Demonstrated experience implementing Identity & Access Management within a Zero Trust framework
•    Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing) in cloud security and remote access environments
•    Solid understanding of NGFW, secure web gateways, IPS/IDS, VPNs and SIEM, including integrating telemetry for threat detection
•    Ability to lead and coordinate internal teams and vendors to meet SLAs and continuously improve services
 
Special Conditions
•    The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
•    The incumbent must be willing to apply, qualify for, and maintain an NV1 clearance.
•    The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
•    Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
•    The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.
 
Salary
ASO8 - $125,649 - $130,392 per annum.
