Cyber Security Directorate, in OCIO, sets the state's cyber security agenda and leads SA Government's cyber security efforts by proactively identifying threats, responding to incidents, promoting best practice, and working with SA Government agencies to assist in coordinating, evaluating, and improving cyber security capabilities across government to ensure the security of government’s information and systems.

Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Cyber Capability and Engagement is responsible for the provision of specialist advice and expertise to management of the Branch and Department. The Senior Manager, Cyber Capability and Engagement leads the whole of government cyber security awareness, capability, and engagement initiatives across the Government of South Australia.

The Senior Manager, Cyber Capability and Engagement will have the opportunity to be involved in leading and delivering key initiatives from the SA Cyber Security Strategy 2025 – 2031 . This role will play a key role in creating a cyber-resilient state, with a collaborative cyber ecosystem and making our state a prosperous place to live, work and do business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and contribute to the development of whole of government cyber security capability awareness and training programs.
  2. Lead and contribute to programs to increase coordination of cyber security public information.
  3. Manage education programs to assist government agencies improve application of cyber security policy frameworks and improve their management of cyber risks.
  4. Support the implementation of the South Australia Cyber Security Strategy.
  5. Proactively monitor and support the departments responsibilities as the Cyber Crisis and Cyber Crisis Hazard Risk Reduction Leader.
  6. Actively contribute to and lead cyber security workforce programs to support cyber pathways for South Australia.
  7. Lead and support whole of government cyber security governance groups, forums and communities of practice.
  8. Provide specialist advice across a range of areas such as cyber skills, risk management, emergency management, protective security and/or cyber security.
  9. Actively engage and maintain effective working and strategic relationships with government and non-government stakeholders across the emergency management and cyber security sector.
  10. Coordinate with other state and commonwealth government agencies in the development of cyber security awareness, capability, and engagement initiatives.
Essential Expertise
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, cyber security, or related fields, and/or industry experience with recognised certifications.
  • Strong expertise in information security, risk, and emergency management.
  • Experience leading cyber security education, awareness, and training programs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, high-impact projects, including planning, procurement, and delivery.
  • Proven ability to analyse problems, develop strategic solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in coordinating activities and meeting tight deadlines using initiative and sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and advise diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of building and managing effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Experienced in producing high-quality reports with well-founded recommendations.
  • Effective leader with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and navigate change.
  • High-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and lead under pressure.

Salary
ASO8 - $121,107 - $125,679 per annum.
