About the Company
The Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Service supports the frontline policing and corporate operations of SAPOL through the provision of ICT infrastructure and communication platforms, operational software applications, and support services. The Service is responsible for driving the ongoing evolution of ICT capability across SAPOL, through the delivery of high-quality ICT change programs. The Service is structured across four core pillars: Strategy, Innovation and Engagement; Program Delivery; Operational Services; and Security and Assurance. The Service extends from traditional ICT services to encompass a specialist radio and technology capability, including laser and radar calibration services.
The Infrastructure Branch supports the management and availability of voice, data and information. This includes the physical hardware and facilities, data storage and retrieval, network systems, legacy interfaces, and telecommunications to support SAPOL. The Branch works closely with Security and other teams within IS&T along with SAPOL stakeholders and vendors to provide a secure reliable infrastructure. The Branch ensures existing infrastructure is maintained and managed as well as providing expert advice and services to projects where new or enhanced infrastructure is required.
Role Overview
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing specialist technical expertise and guidance within the team; and professional advice to the Business, other IS&T teams and Management on server, storage, network technologies and devices.
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for delivering and supporting a diverse range of environments including Azure Cloud, Windows and Linux servers, VMware environments, High Availability technologies, Virtual Desktop technologies, Remote Access solutions, Active Directory environments amongst other technologies, within SAPOL, throughout the State.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in installing, supporting and maintaining Network, Server, Storage and Backup environments in a medium to large organisation.
- Proven experience in supporting technical environments which include Azure Cloud, Windows Server Operating Systems, Linux Server, VMware environments, Active Directory and Server Management toolsets .
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse, coordinate and implement the resolution of complex technical issues within the compute, storage and network environment.
- Ability to manage and organise workloads and priorities and meet imposed deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and logical manner with all levels of personnel with varying levels of information technology literacy in regard to technical and administrative matters.
- Have a demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Equity and Diversity requirements.
- A demonstrated knowledge and commitment to WH&S legislation, principles and practices; and risk assessment in accordance with the WH&S Act (2012), Regulation, approved codes of practice, AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines.
Special Conditions
- The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
- The incumbent must be willing to apply, qualify for, and maintain an NV1 clearance.
- The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
- The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.
Salary
ASO6 - $98,478 – 104,165 per annum.
