WHS & Risk Officer

We are seeking a proactive and capable WHS and Risk Officer to support the delivery of workplace health, safety, and risk management initiatives across our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key projects and contribute to a strong safety culture.
About the Company
We are a values-driven organisation committed to providing high-quality services to our community. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and focused on continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on safety and wellbeing.
Role Overview
This role operates with limited direction from senior staff and requires a high level of initiative. The WHS and Risk Officer will be responsible for managing their own work area, leading projects, and consulting with colleagues to drive effective safety and risk outcomes across the organisation.
About the Person
You are a motivated and confident professional who takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team. While a background in healthcare or experience within community-focused organisations is beneficial, it is not essential. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in WHS and/or risk management and is comfortable navigating a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support WHS and risk management projects

  • Maintain and improve safety systems, policies, and procedures

  • Identify, assess, and manage organisational risks

  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on WHS matters

  • Conduct audits, investigations, and reporting as required

  • Collaborate with teams to promote a positive safety culture

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in WHS and/or risk management roles

  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and compliance requirements

  • Ability to work with limited supervision and take initiative

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience in a health service or community organisation (desirable)

  • Clinical background such as nursing (desirable but not essential)
