Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, this newly created role will play a key part in strengthening financial business partnering capability and supporting the ongoing evolution of Council's financial systems and reporting environment.
Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you will provide strategic financial advice, deliver meaningful insights and help drive continuous improvement through enhanced systems, reporting and business processes.
This is an opportunity to influence how finance supports decision making across Council while contributing to a range of initiatives focused on capability, efficiency and organisational performance.
About the Person
City of Charles Sturt is seeking an experienced finance professional with strong business partnering capability and a passion for driving improvement.
You will bring a combination of commercial acumen, financial systems expertise and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse organisation. Equally comfortable working with data, systems and stakeholders, you can translate information into meaningful insights that support informed decision making.
You are naturally curious, solutions focused and motivated by the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen capability and contribute to organisational performance. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to influence outcomes in a collaborative way will be critical to your success.
CPA or CA qualifications are essential. Experience working with TechnologyOne and exposure to complex or service-based organisations will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ongoing optimisation and enhancement of the TechnologyOne environment
- Drive systems improvements, process redesign and transformation initiatives
- Build strong business partnering relationships across Council
- Provide strategic financial advice and insights to support decision making
- Develop meaningful reporting, dashboards and performance measures
- Support budgeting, planning and financial performance activities
- Coach and develop our Assistant Systems Accountant while building team capability
- Champion continuous improvement and organisational change initiatives
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

CPA or CA qualified with tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline

Significant experience in business partnering, management accounting or finance leadership roles

Demonstrated experience leading systems improvements, process optimisation or transformation initiatives

Strong financial systems experience, ideally including TechnologyOne

Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across an organisation

Experience developing reporting frameworks, dashboards and management insights

Strong problem solving, communication and change management capability

Experience coaching, mentoring or developing team members
