Role Overview
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Student Fees and Projects Lead to oversee a specialist student finance team and drive the successful delivery of operational and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Student Fees team, ensuring the accurate delivery of billing, invoicing, and payment services, while also leading projects focused on improving systems, processes, and service outcomes. The role requires a confident people leader who can mentor and develop staff, manage performance, and foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture while maintaining compliance, operational efficiency, and high service standards.

You are an experienced leader with a strong background in finance operations, team management, and service delivery. You are passionate about developing people, driving continuous improvement, and creating efficient processes that enhance customer experience. You bring strong stakeholder management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to confidently lead teams through operational challenges and change initiatives. Experience within education, training, government, or large service-based environments will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing student fees team
- Manage day-to-day student finance operations, ensuring service excellence and compliance
- Oversee billing, invoicing, payment processes, and data integrity across systems
- Drive operational improvements and lead business improvement initiatives
- Coordinate and deliver projects focused on enhancing systems and processes
- Manage escalated student account and finance enquiries
- Monitor team performance, workflow priorities, and service delivery outcomes
- Develop reporting, process documentation, and operational recommendations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance, ICT, and operational teams
- Proven leadership experience managing operational or finance-focused teams
- Strong background in billing, invoicing, finance operations, or customer service delivery
- Demonstrated experience leading projects and process improvement initiatives
- Excellent people management, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong understanding of financial systems, operational processes, and compliance requirements
- High-level communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Experience within education, training, government, or large complex organisations highly regarded
- Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one required
