Harrison McMillan has partnered with a Federal Government Department to engage a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help keep critical telephony and videoconferencing services running smoothly, while also contributing to uplift and improvement of secure unified communications (UC) capability. This is a 12-month contract role suited to someone who enjoys a mix of technical support, problem-solving, and delivery work in complex environments.
What you’ll be focused on
- Owning technical troubleshooting and improvement across telephony/video collaboration services in a secure environment
- Partnering with the operations team and Network Operations Centre (NOC) to drive resolution of persistent/complex issues
- Helping deliver platform upgrades and capability uplift (from planning through to implementation)
- Producing clear technical artefacts such as designs, SOPs, and build/configuration documentation
- Supporting assurance activities including validation and verification with a range of stakeholders
- Working alongside vendors/suppliers to shape practical, outcomes-based solutions
- Building quick proof-of-concepts and using automation where possible to support testing and delivery
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Telecommunications (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong experience supporting collaboration/UC services, including telephony and videoconferencing technologies
- Confidence working in secure, process-driven environments with strong documentation expectations
Desirable experience (highly regarded)
- Networking fundamentals: Juniper routing/switching, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, TCP/IP, UDP, NTP, VLANs
- Automation/scripting: PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible (or similar)
- Virtualisation / hyper-converged environments, Active Directory, PKI certificate services
- QoS implementation/testing including DSCP traffic markings within secure federated environments
