About the Company
Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) plays a critical role in supporting Australia’s naval shipbuilding enterprise and managing nationally significant defence infrastructure. Based in Adelaide, ANI is responsible for delivering and managing infrastructure that supports the long-term development of Australia’s naval capability. Role Overview
This is a senior level Document Controller role operating at the centre of major defence infrastructure delivery. You will take ownership of document control systems and workflows, ensuring complete accuracy, traceability, and compliance across all project documentation. This is not a transactional role, it is a governance focused position where your control of information directly supports program delivery and assurance. You will work across multiple stakeholders in a structured, high accountability environment where precision and discipline are essential. You will be operating in a fast paced, high-volume environment, managing multiple workflows and stakeholders concurrently while working to tight project timeframes. About the Person
You are an established Document Controller with strong experience in large scale infrastructure, engineering, or defence environments. You are confident operating within structured systems and understand the importance of strict process adherence in regulated project settings. You are calm under pressure, highly methodical, and trusted to operate effectively in complex, high volume environments. You ideally bring strong Aconex capability and are comfortable being the “gatekeeper” of accuracy, consistency, and compliance. You can step into an established environment and quickly get up to speed, operating with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Own document control governance across major defence infrastructure programs
- Manage workflows, transmittals, submissions, and structured review cycles
- Maintain document registers, numbering systems, and version control integrity
- Ensure compliance with strict governance, audit, and project assurance requirements
- Monitor and report on document status, workflow performance, and delivery progress
- Assist with onboarding and capability uplift of new users across the program
- Maintain discipline, accuracy, and consistency across all document control activity
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Australian citizenship is essential due to defence security requirements
- Experience within major infrastructure, engineering or construction projects is essential
- Strong Aconex (or equivalent) experience is highly regarded
- Strong exposure to complex, regulated project environments
- Deep understanding of document governance, compliance, and audit requirements
- Proven ability to manage high volume workflows with absolute accuracy
- Strong stakeholder engagement across technical and project delivery teams
- Confident working independently within structured environments
- Experience training or supporting electronic document management system users
