Procurement Advisor

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Advisor to provide expert support and advice on procurement processes, with a strong focus on government frameworks and compliance.

Role Overview:
As the Procurement Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering procurement outcomes across information systems and technology services. You will provide expert advice on procurement procedures, develop key documentation, and ensure all processes comply with government policies and frameworks. The role is highly collaborative, requiring you to work closely with internal stakeholders to achieve procurement outcomes that balance efficiency, compliance, and value for money.

About the Person:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in a procurement advisory role, with demonstrated knowledge of government procurement frameworks, policies, and practices. You are highly organised, adaptable, and confident working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Strong communication skills, ethical decision-making, and the ability to build effective relationships are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advisory and support services regarding procurement processes and government policies

  • Develop and review key procurement documentation including acquisition plans, evaluation plans, negotiation plans, and purchase recommendations

  • Lead the establishment of low to medium risk government contracts in line with customer requirements

  • Undertake procurement projects across whole-of-government, whole-of-department, and agency-specific contracts

  • Participate in evaluation panels and contribute to the selection of suppliers

  • Ensure compliance with commercial, financial, and legal requirements

  • Identify opportunities to improve outcomes, efficiency, and value for money in procurement processes

  • Support the implementation of procurement systems and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a procurement advisory role

  • Demonstrated experience developing procurement documentation and recommendations

  • Strong knowledge of government procurement frameworks and policies

  • Experience undertaking value-for-money and cost/benefit evaluations

  • Proven ability to chair or contribute to evaluation panels

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential and sensitive information

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing work environments

  • Knowledge of WH&S legislation and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion

  • Public sector procurement experience is highly desirable
