About the Company

Through the assessment of a diverse range of applications and a strong customer service focus, the team works closely with applicants, industry professionals and the community to deliver balanced and well-considered outcomes.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Team Leader Planning, the Planning Officer will join a collaborative and professional team responsible for assessing a broad range of development applications. The role combines technical assessment with stakeholder engagement, providing the opportunity to assess development applications in accordance with the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act while working closely with applicants, consultants and community members.
This opportunity offers exposure to a diverse mix of development matters, including the opportunity to contribute to planning matters presented to the Unley Council Assessment Panel.
About the Person
You will have relevant qualifications in planning, together with experience in development assessment and a sound understanding of planning legislation and assessment processes.
A confident communicator, you will enjoy working with a range of stakeholders and be capable of providing professional advice in a clear and balanced manner. You are organised, adaptable and able to exercise sound judgement when managing competing priorities.
Most importantly, you will bring a collaborative approach, a commitment to customer service and a genuine interest in contributing to positive development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess a diverse range of development applications
- Prepare thorough, balanced and clearly expressed assessment reports
- Provide professional advice to applicants, consultants and community members
- Deliver responsive and high-quality customer service
- Contribute to matters presented to the Council Assessment Panel
- Support broader planning and development activities as required
- Relevant qualifications in planning
- Experience in development assessment
- Working knowledge of planning legislation and development assessment processes
- Experience interpreting and applying planning policy
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective time management and organisational abilities
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
