Harrison McMillan is seeking an ICT Project Manager (EL1) to work with a Federal Government Department in Canberra.

Role

This opportunity is to deliver inflight FY25/26 projects and exists within the department’s corporate applications (including Enterprise Resource Planning), infrastructure platforms (including cloud hosting, migration, cyber security, data & analytics), and software development.

Success
  • Management and delivery of ICT related projects and/or large corporate ICT transformation programs

  • Ability to adapt to and work across various delivery methodologies (such as waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)

  • Managing technical teams and partnering with multiple vendors to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes

  • Preparing and presenting reports, artefacts, and documentation for Project Boards, Senior Executives, and other governance bodies

  • High level interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Personal resilience and flexibility to deal with ambiguity and conflicting priorities to successfully deliver under pressure within a challenging environment

Duties
  • Manage the delivery of departmental projects (Prince2, Agile, SAFe, hybrid)

  • Provide guidance and leadership to a multi-disciplinary project team, 3rd party vendors, and/or other departmental teams to deliver projects

  • Undertake project governance, including, but not limited to:

    • project initiation and closure

    • scope, schedule and delivery timeframe management

    • reporting and presenting to Senior Executives, Program/Project Boards, and other governance bodies

    • budget and financial management and reporting

    • active management of risks and issues

  • Provide delivery capability across the broader programs of work

Essential
  • Project Management experience in delivery of a large and/or complex ICT Projects including waterfall, Agile, SAFe, Prince, MSP

  • Capability in managing all aspects of a project to ensure successful outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead multi-disciplinary teams to effectively deliver results and positively respond to change

  • Demonstrated experience with engaging and managing 3rd party vendors and contracts to ensure successful delivery of requirements

  • Well-developed communication skills

Desirable
  • Capability and experience in delivering large corporate software projects, such as ERP implementations

  • SAFe Agile and/or Scrum Master experience and qualifications are highly desirable

  • Project management qualifications and certification are highly desirable
