Role Overview

For six generations, the Beerenberg family has been farming in Hahndorf and creating products enjoyed across Australia and around the world. Beerenberg’s Hospitality & Retail Centre is where visitors experience the brand firsthand through its café, retail store, farm experiences and genuine country hospitality.

Beerenberg is seeking two experienced Hospitality & Retail Centre Managers to lead its daily café, retail, tourism, events and seasonal Strawberry Patch activities. These are hands-on, floor-based positions responsible for ensuring each shift runs smoothly, safely and efficiently while every guest receives exceptional service. Reporting to the HRC Venue Manager, you will provide clear direction to the team, manage service flow and make confident decisions during busy periods. You will set the tone on the floor and create an environment where people work together, take pride in what they do and understand the importance of delivering the Beerenberg standard every day.


About the Person

You will be an experienced hospitality or retail manager who enjoys leading from the floor. You can remain calm during busy periods, make practical decisions and ensure your team continues to deliver warm, attentive and efficient service.

You will be confident setting expectations, coaching employees and addressing issues as they arise. You will understand how café, retail and kitchen teams need to work together to create a seamless guest experience.

Most importantly, you will genuinely reflect Beerenberg’s values. You will be trustworthy, enthusiastic and willing to help wherever needed. You will take responsibility, pay attention to detail and refuse to compromise on quality, customer experience or safety.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily café,retail, tourism, events and Strawberry Patch operations
  • Lead shift briefings and coordinate service flow throughout the day
  • Direct, coach and support employees during service
  • Prepare rosters and manage shift coverage, breaks and adjustments
  • Monitor labour and operating costs against budget
  • Coordinate onboarding, training and competency sign-off
  • Address performance, conduct and attendance matters appropriately
  • Resolve guest service issues promptly and professionally
  • Maintain high presentation standards across the Hospitality & Retail Centre
  • Work closely with baristas to support coffee quality and workflow
  • Partner with the kitchen team to maintain food quality and service flow
  • Manage stock levels, cash handling and daily reconciliation
  • Support WHS, food safety, incident reporting and audit readiness
  • Step into higher duties when required to support the Venue Manager
 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience managing teams and shifts in a busy hospitality or retail venue
  • Confidence establishing service standards and holding a team accountable
  • A sound understanding of café operations, coffee service and workflows
  • An understanding of how front and back of housework together
  • Experience managing rosters, labour, stock and service standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills during busy or changing service periods
  • A collaborative, supportive and hands-on management style
  • A genuine commitment to exceptional guest service
  • Current RSA and food-handling certification
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • Qualifications in Hospitality or Retail Management are well regarded
  • Experience in tourism, agri-tourism or regional food and beverage is highly regarded


The Hospitality & Retail Centre operates seven days a week. Availability to work weekends, public holidays and contribute during seasonal and peak trading periods is required.
