Role Overview
ANI is seeking a forward?thinking Head of IT & Cyber Security to lead the organisation’s enterprise technology strategy, architecture, cybersecurity frameworks, and digital governance. This role provides strategic direction for all technology functions, ensuring they support business priorities and national security obligations.
Acting as ANI’s principal technology advisor, you will guide the Executive Leadership Team through the development of technology strategies, long-range planning, risk management, and digital capability uplift. You will oversee secure enterprise infrastructure, network operations, vendor performance, and cyber incident response across a multi-site, high-assurance environment.
This position plays a critical leadership role in aligning technology, data, security and digital systems with ANI’s strategic objectives, while ensuring compliance with ASD Essential Eight, the Information Security Manual (ISM), ISO 27001, and the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Alignment
- Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with ANI’s business goals and long term organisational plans.
- Serve as chief technology advisor to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), translating complex IT concepts into business focused strategies.
- Lead the development of enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps and digital governance frameworks during significant organisational growth and change.
- Participate in business strategy sessions, championing the role of technology in safe, secure and profitable organisational performance.
- Approve and manage the technology budget, ensuring spend optimisation in partnership with Finance.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement across all technology functions.
Enterprise Technology & Security Leadership
- Oversee enterprise IT infrastructure, secure network operations and service delivery excellence across multiple sites.
- Ensure cybersecurity frameworks, monitoring, incident response, and regulatory engagement support ANI’s risk and assurance requirements.
- Maintain compliance with relevant defence and government standards including ASD Essential Eight, ISM, ISO 27001 and DISP.
- Lead vendor and partner relationships to ensure reliable delivery and alignment with strategic outcomes.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Australian citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance for a Defence-related facility.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing technology strategy, enterprise architecture and digital governance in a large, complex, project driven organisation.
- Proven leadership across IT operations, cybersecurity, risk management, and organisational change.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills and the ability to translate business needs into effective technology solutions.
- Ability to influence executive stakeholders, lead multidisciplinary teams, and drive technology enabled transformation.
