Financial & Asset Accountant

A great opportunity for an experienced Financial & Asset Accountant to step into a broad, hands-on temporary role supporting key finance functions.
About The Company
This organisation operates in a structured and regulated environment, offering a supportive team culture and the opportunity to contribute across a diverse finance function. This is a blind advertisement.

Role Overview
This temporary position (ASAP to 30 September 2026) is suited to an experienced all-rounder. Rather than backfilling a single role, you will provide flexible support across multiple accounting functions, working closely with the broader finance team.

About the Person
You are a capable and adaptable accountant who enjoys variety in your work. You can confidently manage competing priorities, build strong working relationships, and operate with a high level of autonomy. You bring a practical, hands-on approach and are comfortable stepping into different areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end preparation of FBT and other statutory returns
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation and posting of month-end journals
  • Preparation of year-end financial statements in line with legislative requirements
  • Managing relationships with external auditors
  • Supporting Divisional and Asset Accountants as required
  • Preparing month-end reports and variance commentary for Finance Manager review
  • Developing and maintaining a rolling 12-month cashflow forecast
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Proven experience in financial and/or asset accounting
  • Strong understanding of statutory reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing year-end financial statements in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with external auditors
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial insights and variances
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
