Economic and Community Development Officer

Copper Coast Council is seeking an Economic and Community Development Officer. Reporting to the Manager Growth, Community & Activation, you will work directly with local businesses, community groups and regional stakeholders to support sustainable growth across the Copper Coast. This is a practical, relationship-driven role focused on grants support, business capability building, community engagement and regional promotion. You will be trusted to take initiative, build strong local networks and help deliver outcomes that matter.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support local economic and community development initiatives
  • Provide guidance to businesses and community groups with grant applications
  • Contribute to council funding submissions and acquittals
  • Build relationships with local businesses, Chambers of Commerce and community stakeholders
  • Support uptake of digital literacy initiatives, including emerging technologies
  • Liaise with regional stakeholders including RDA and government partners

About you:
You are practical, approachable and comfortable working directly with businesses, community groups and stakeholders. You enjoy seeing ideas turn into action and can balance relationship building with delivery. You are organised, proactive and confident working autonomously in a regional environment where visibility and follow-through matter.


You will also have:

  • Experience in economic or community development, marketing, business or similar
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confidence supporting grant applications and funding processes
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally
