This opportunity sits within a highly regarded legal and commercial function supporting complex defence programs across Australia. Working closely with project teams, legal counsel and senior stakeholders, the role will focus on contractual negotiations, commercial risk management and supporting strong project outcomes across the full contract lifecycle.
This role will suit someone who genuinely understands the defence environment and has strong exposure to ASDEFCON contracts and frameworks. You may come from a commercial, contracts or legal background, however you will need to be commercially minded, relationship driven and comfortable operating within a project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial and contractual activities across complex defence programs
- Lead negotiations relating to contracts, variations, change proposals and commercial agreements
- Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risk
- Support tender and proposal submissions from a commercial perspective
- Provide practical commercial advice to project and operational teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers
- Work closely with legal and project stakeholders to support commercial outcomes
- Ensure contractual compliance and alignment with defence industry frameworks and standards
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated experience within the defence sector
- Strong working knowledge of ASDEFCON contracts and frameworks
- Background in commercial, contracts or legal environments
- Experience negotiating complex contractual arrangements
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and manage risk
- Proven stakeholder management and relationship building capability
- Ability to operate across legal, commercial and operational teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities within project driven environments
- Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain or hold a Defence Clearance required
