SA Recruitment Company wins Royal Commission work

South Australian recruitment company Harrison McMillan has secured a project with the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission.

Harrison McMillan will recruit five researchers and a team leader for the Royal Commission, which will investigate the effects of the nuclear energy industry in South Australia.

The 12-month, contract-based research roles will cover job families such as a nuclear physicist, geologist, and environmental and economic scientists.

Harrison McMillan director Jodi Walton told Shortlist the company’s unbundled fee-for-service recruitment model was a big factor in the win.

“[The Royal Commission] would’ve been possibly looking at 25–30% of each salary… You’re looking at anywhere up to $150k worth of fees if they were to engage a headhunt firm for that,” she said.

“With us, they just pay for the time that we’re spending [on the project]. They’re looking at a fifth of the cost at this point.”
