Role Overview

Reporting to the leadership team, you will be an important member of the accounting team and not only deliver services to your clients but also actively engage with your colleagues to lead by example and exemplify the cores values of the organisation.

To be successful in this role you will be a passionate, dynamic and outgoing accounting professional who can not only demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the analysis and implementation of accounting procedures, but also maintain a “continuous improvement” focused mindset. This in turn will allow you to seek out ways to not only add value for your clients but also play a pivotal role in the growth of SJN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all Australian Taxation Office forms in consultation with clients covering Individuals, Partnerships, Trusts, & Companies
  • Preparation of financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies
  • Develop, maintain and analyse budgets, and prepare periodic reporting for clients
  • Be a proactive member of the team actively monitoring weekly KPIs in order to drive workflow
  • Assist in providing advice in areas such as the design of accounting or data processing systems, tax and estate plans

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce/Accounting
  • Commencement of CA would be looked upon favorably
  • Proven experience as a member of an accounting team (for a minimum of 2 years) with the ability to plan and coordinate activities, prioritise, monitor and evaluate workflows
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying accepted accounting principles, economic principles, applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections and provide advice of a business nature
  • Well-developed knowledge of financial and accounting software applications including Xero and MYOB
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member cooperatively or independently
  • Demonstrated aptitude for self-direction and motivation, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills; reflecting a strong customer service approach, including an ability to liaise with clients and staff in a positive manner
