Information Technology

Three for the price of one!

sydac-300x65Sydac is a world leading developer and exporter of simulation technology and engineering modelling technology, largely operating in the global rail and transportation sectors. Sydac is part of the Knorr-Bremse group which has 20,000 employees worldwide, with employees based in Adelaide, India and the UK.

Sydac’s commitment to “simulating a better reality” is delivered through its ability to bring together innovative teams and applying technology to create solutions which deliver a competitive edge to its clients.

The Essentials

  • In late February 2015, Sydac required two Developers that had experience working with C++, C# or Java technologies.
  • It was highly advantageous that the Developers had experience working with object-orientated design methodologies, real time systems and multi-threaded or distributed systems application development.
  • The positions were within a small team of experienced professionals responsible for all aspects of the software development life cycle, in an environmental simulation project.
  • Sydac had previously engaged a “traditional” recruitment agency without success and was seeking a partnership approach to source appropriate candidates.

Harrison McMillan’s Solution

Dani Bieg and Chantelle Minervini met with Sydac to gain a solid understanding of the position requirements and understand the issues encountered with their previous approaches to market. They then developed a market campaign in conjunction with the Sydac team which included a targeted advertising campaign and a digital sourcing approach to potentially relevant candidates. This focused approach to the market generated numerous relevant candidates interested in applying their experience with this global market leader.
Given the overwhelming response, Harrison McMillan then applied various levels of assessment with suitable candidates including in-depth telephone interviewing and video interviewing.

The Result

The above approach resulted in a highly qualified shortlist of 9 candidates for the 2 available positions. After completing all face to face to interviews Sydac subsequently offered 3 of the candidates Harrison McMillan shortlisted, with all 3 candidates accepting the offer.
Fee savings to clients (Based on average “traditional” recruitment agency fees) – $34,992.
