The City of Charles Sturt was proclaimed on 1 January 1997. It joined together the former City of Hindmarsh Woodville and the City of Henley and Grange.
Our Council is west of the Central Business District of Adelaide, South Australia located between the city and the sea.
At Charles Sturt, we champion unity in diversity. Our City is home to more than 130,000 people from over 105 cultures and backgrounds. Our residents all bring something special to our community - festivals, food, language, art, events, knowledge and skills.
You’ll find people from all corners of the globe around every corner. It is this richness which makes Charles Sturt such a vibrant place to live, work and play.
This is why the City of Charles Sturt means the world. It highlights not only what makes our City unique, but the pride of everyone who calls it home.
There is something for everyone in our City. From the range of opportunities for business, sporting and leisure activities to arts, entertainment and international events. Our beautiful coastline, the serene River Torrens and our network of parks, reserves and playgrounds all illustrate our focus on environmental sustainability and offer amazing amenity for residents.
Intrinsic to the purpose and value of The City of Charles Sturt is a sense of belonging. As one of SA’s largest Councils, it is home to 130,000 people coming from 105 diverse cultures, The City of Charles Sturt is a vibrant and dynamic community unlike any other in South Australia. Championing unity in diversity with the aim to be an employer for all people, it “Means the World” to the City of Charles Sturt that everyone belongs. With this, The City of Charles Sturt serves and represents its community with a workforce that collectively works to shape the future together.
This is a rare opportunity to join an industry leading Council dedicated to uplifting its diverse community in this highly influential and integral executive role. The General Manager Corporate Services oversees the continuous improvement and realisation of critical strategic objectives across a vast portfolio inclusive of Finance, Governance and Operational Support, Information Services, Marketing and Communications, People and Culture, and Strategic Procurement. Reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with a motivated executive team on the overall strategic management and enhancement of Council, this position will enable community outcomes by prioritising people, optimising operations, influencing contemporary practice and engaging and working in alignment with a highly supportive Mayor and team of Elected Members.
This position is suited to an energised and contemporary, experienced senior executive who thrives in complex, political and regulated environments, and who demonstrates expertise in the management and leadership of a diverse functional portfolio. To stand out, the ideal candidate will be a progressive leader and courageous advocate who can lean on exceptional communication and relationship building skills; and political acumen to influence key agendas and shape strategically aligned results for the Council and its community.
